The fact that Ruth, a Moabite woman, (an outsider; a Gentile) is the great-grandmother of King David, and an ancestor of King Jesus is no small thing. God's plan of redemption, even in the Old Testament, has always been for all who believe. This beautiful story is rich with the gospel, as we see how God's provision for an immigrant woman parallels Jesus' redemption of his own bride, the Church.
