THE FATHERLESS

The Levite, because he has no portion or inheritance with you, and the sojourner, the fatherless, and the widow, who are within your towns, shall come and eat and be filled, that the Lord your God may bless you in all the work of your hands that you do.

Deuteronomy 14:29

The Fatherless

In Scripture, we see that God calls us to take special care of children who lose the nurture, guidance, and provision of their earthly parents. Sometimes children have extended family who can support them and do not need help from the church. Other times, for a variety of reasons not the fault of the child, these children do not have the support they need.

Children considered 'fatherless' include those in foster care, those being raised by a single parent, those who have a parent deployed in service to their country, those whose parents are unemployed, and those who have an absentee parent due to incarceration or neglect.

Our Method

MISSIONAL COMMUNITY

Our vision is to live as the family of God, and a Missional Community can truly serve in this role for a 'fatherless' child. Sometimes an MC will serve together at an event or help a family directly.  Other times, someone may open their home to a child and the Missional Community will come alongside them.

MINISTRY PARTNERSHIP

New City Church seeks out strategic partnerships with organizations that work to meet the needs of the 'fatherless' within our community.

Our Partners

Chosen Hope

New City Church is a Promise Church in partnership with Live the Promise.  Chosen Hope organizes small groups of people who seek to provide prayer and practical support to specific families who have opened their homes to the many children in need of foster care or adoption within Lawrenceville and all of Gwinnett County.  Chosen Hope groups are supported by the Missional Communities as needs are brought to them.
