Mark portrays Jesus as a conquering King, victorious over nature, disease, demons, and death. With Jesus, the conquered share in the glory of his conquest. Mark's is the Savior-King, who does not gloat over the suffering of the conquered, but rather suffers in their place with a view toward their everlasting welfare.
